Home Library Service
Talking Books
Compact Discs
What is the home library?
The service is designed to meet the library needs of people who have difficulty visiting a library due to reduced mobility and have no-one who can regularly visit the library on their behalf.
Two library vans visit people in their homes once every four weeks across all areas of Tameside. Customers can choose from a selection of books and other materials
How do I join?
Fill in an application form on-line.
Once we have received your request we will send you a letter/email to confirm receipt, and will write to you in due course with a date and time of an assessment visit. Please state on your application form if you require Talking Books.
Are there age restrictions?
There are no age restrictions but the majority of customers tend to be older people or those who have difficulty leaving their home.
How much choice is there?
We have as much choice as any library. On the assessment visit we will ask you what type of books you like to read so we can bring them with us.
Customers can choose from a selection of standard and large print books, talking books on cassette, and compact discs. Customers can request items that are not immediately available. The staff will also find information for customers if asked.
