Gambling Act 2005 – Help for Gamblers
Harm from gambling is an increasingly important health issue. In Tameside it is estimated that there are 3,500 adults who are experiencing harm from their gambling. It is impacting younger people too, with national survey’s showing 39 out of every 100 children aged 11-16 have gambled in the last year
Support in Tameside
If you or someone you know is experiencing harm from gambling, there is support available for both the gambler, and their friends/family. The service is open to anyone over age 16, or under 16 if accompanied by an adult.
Tameside council have been working with Beacon Counselling Trust in the North West to tackle the issue of gambling harm, and have recently opened a second gambling support clinic in Hyde, to complement the existing clinic. Screening
The attached screening forms contains questions that can help people understand if they or someone they know is experiencing harm from gambling. Anyone who score 1 or higher is encouraged to be referred to Beacon Counselling Trust.
