New application for a Hackney Carriage/ Private Hire Drivers Licence

You must be over 21 years of age and have held a full DVLA drivers licence for a minimum of 12 months.

All new applicants must now pass a driving assessment and complete a taxi driver’s course held at Tameside College. Below is information that you will need in order to apply for a taxi driver’s badge within the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside. We do not hold any further information regarding this.

Below is information that you will need in order to apply for a taxi driver’s badge within Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council.

You must also complete a one day taxi driver assessment course that is held at Tameside College. The fee for this course is £100.00. They can be contacted on: 0161 908 6600.  
 
Once you have completed the above steps, you are able to apply for a Private Hire/Hackney Carriage Driver Licence. Please ring our office on 0161 342 4262 option 3 to request an application pack.

Please be aware that the application process can take some time, as part of the process a Disclosure and Barring Service check will be undertaken and those checks can, in some cases, take months to complete.
