Licensing Counter Services is currently closed until further notice

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Tameside Council is monitoring the current situation on coronavirus closely following information and advice published by the government.
 
In order to minimise face-to-face contact and help prevent the spread of coronavirus, some services will be delivered differently. As part of this approach, the counter service at the Licensing Office, Tame Street, Stalybridge will be suspended until further notice.
 
Therefore we have implemented the following procedures to ensure that licence applications are processed and the Licensing service can continue to operate during this challenging period:
 
Hackney Carriage / Private Hire Drivers (Badges)
  • If your badge is due to expire in either March or April and you do not require either a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check or a Medical please email licensing@tameside.gov.uk with a copy of the following;
  • Renewal Application form
  • Passport
  • Driving Licence 
Once these documents have been received, you will receive a call from a Licensing Officer who will take payment for your licence and advise how you can collect your badge. 
  • If your badge is due to expire before 1 May 2020, and you are due to renew your Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, you should have already completed a DBS application.
 
In this case you should follow the procedure above.
 
If you have not yet completed a DBS application please email a copy of your DBS application and relevant identification documents in addition to your renewal application to licensing@tameside.gov.uk
 
Once these documents have been received, you will receive a call from a Licensing Officer who will take payment for your licence and advise you further.
 
  • If your badge is due to expire before 1 May 2020 and you are due to have a medical examination and you are unable to book an appointment with a GP who has access to your medical records, please complete your renewal application by following the procedure above and inform Licensing who will advise you further.
 
 
Hackney Carriage / Private Hire Vehicles (Plates)
 
Currently, Tame Street Garage will continue to remain open and compliance tests will be carried out. If your vehicle requires a compliance test, please present your vehicle at the garage at the time of your pre-arranged appointment.
 
  • If your vehicle has already had a compliance test in March and you are waiting to collect your plates please email licensing@tameside.gov.uk with the following;
  • Application form
  • Log book
  • Insurance Certificate (Hire & Reward)
  • Compliance Certificate 
Once these documents have been received, you will receive a call from a Licensing Officer who will take payment for your licence and advise how you can collect your plates.
  • If your vehicle has not had a compliance test and your plate is due to expire in either March or April, please email licensing@tameside.gov.uk with the following;
  • Application form
  • Log book
  • Insurance Certificate (Hire & Reward)

    In particular please pay attention to paragraphs 4.2 and 4.8 about  taking necessary precautions about frequent hand washing and cleaning  frequently touched objects and surfaces this should include door handles and seat belt buckles of vehicles.
