Disclosure & Barring Service

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Guidance Notes

The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) have merged into the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). CRB checks are now called DBS checks.

There are many changes being brought in to improve the process of checking applicants. Please read the guidance notes enclosed with your renewal which show recent changes that affect your new DBS Check.
All drivers are required to have a DVLA Photocard Driving Licence – we will not accept the old style paper DVLA Licence. If you have the old style, you need to apply with DVLA for a new one in plenty of time before submitting your renewal forms.

As from 17 June 2013, the DBS will stop issuing two DBS certificates. A DBS certificate will only be sent to the applicant. Therefore, we will write to you prior to your renewal and request you come into the office to submit the information required by the DBS issuing authority.  Your renewal will then be sent to you as normal. By the time your renewal is due you should have received your DBS certificate.  Your drivers badge will then be issued.

If you do not receive your DBS certificate and your badge is due to expire you must contact the licensing office for further advice.
