Greener Museums and Galleries
Tameside Museums and Galleries Service is committed to embedding green practices into all the work that it undertakes and commissions. Here are a few examples of some of the actions we have taken so far:
- Dramatically reduced printing volumes by making increasing amounts of material available on-line.
- Ensuring we recycle as much plastic, paper and other recyclable materials as possible across our sites.
- Confirming all portable appliances; kettles, are as energy efficient as possible.
- Ensuring lights and all electrical appliances are turned-off in rooms that are not in-use.
- ‘Green’ labels introduced at Portland Basin that compliment displays highlighting environmental issues.
- Used exhibitions programme to promote a great public awareness of green issues.
