Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how the Council will involve people and organisations in the planning process, including both the preparation of planning policy documents such as the Local Plan and the Joint Development Plan Document Places for Everyone, as well as the determination of planning applications.

The current SCI was adopted in June 2021 to bring the narrative associated with joint planning, formerly the GMSF now Places for Everyone, up to date. The 2021 SCI update follows on from a more comprehensive update of the SCI adopted in November 2020 that reflected on changes to planning legislation, policy and guidance and the measures implemented to help combat the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and the implications for planning-related consultations.

The 2020 SCI was informed by a period of consultation in August 2020. Given the 2021 SCI update related only to the technical narrative around joint planning, no further period of public consultation was undertaken prior to its adoption.
