Like the rest of the UK, communities in Tameside have a long history of celebrating national and personal events with street parties, this guide will show you how you can continue that tradition.
Closing your road to host a street party is completely free and there are plenty of resources to help you plan.
Celebrate The Coronation of King Charles III with a Coronation Big Lunch!
The Coronation Big Lunch will bring millions of people across the UK together to celebrate the historic event of the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and The Queen Consort. Big lunches come in all shapes and sizes from lunches in gardens to closing your road for a street party. If you would like to close your road for a street party, we have all of the information you need to do so between Saturday 6th May and Monday 8th May.

The deadline to apply to close your road for the Coronation has been extended to Friday 21st April 2023.

Host a street party at another time of year
We accept applications for street parties at any time of year. If you would like to host a street party at any time other than the Coronation Bank Holiday (6th – 8th May 2023), please follow the below guidance. The deadline to apply to close your road is 4 weeks before the event.

From February 2020, this street party process and terms and conditions supersedes any previous process or terms and conditions that may appear on the council’s website. Alternative processes may be required for national events and information regarding the changes to the application process will be made clear on this webpage.
