Welcome to Routes to Work

Routes to Work are a supported employment service within Tameside Council. We offer support for people with disabilities, /mental health /drug and alcohol issues / substance misuse,/ autism/ or acquired brain injury who resides in the Tameside area. We help you to achieve your employment goals.

We will advise on all aspects of gaining employment to volunteering, training and education to enable you to work independent.

If you have any questions please telephone us on 0161 342 5200. We aim to help you to secure and retain employment suited to your skills.

What is Routes to Work?

Routes to Work are supported employment team, which is a service provided by Tameside MBC

Routes to work offers advice, support and practical assistance to local residents with a disability, or mental health condition or a substance misuse which is a barrier to employment, training, or volunteering, this service can help you to find work or keep a job because of a disability.


What services do we provide?

We aim to help you into employment using a range of different methods, this will include assessing your experiences, any relevant training that you have had and any qualifications that you have gained.

We offer a tailor made package of support which is individual to you.

We will support you get the right job, such as what job you want to do, what skills you have and what support needs you require.

We can maximise your chances of getting the right job by helping to:

  • Produce your CV
  • Practice interview skills
  • Accompany you to the interview.
  • We will guide you through the recruitment process

Our service is all about finding the right job for the right person.

We match client skills to the employer needs to ensure a positive outcome.


Drop - In

Routes to Work provide a drop in service for general advice and guidance and is held at the Topaz Wellbeing Centre on Katherine Street Ashton under Lyne on the last Thursday of every month from 2pm to 4pm. There is no need to book.

Everyone is welcome to use this service for general advice and guidance. Employment Officers are available to talk with and can offer suggestions about finding suitable work and improving employability


Information for Employers and other Organizations in Tameside

We can advise you on how to promote an inclusive and diverse workforce. This will help to:

  • Promote diversity throughout your organization
  • Comply with the relevant legislation
  • Advise on how to implement reasonable adjustments effectively
  • Promote a positive culture of disability within in the workplace
