Tameside in Work

Tameside in work

A fantastic new support service has launched in Tameside in January 2022, aimed at helping people to progress in their employment.

Commissioned by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), the 12 month initiative is the first of its kind in Tameside. It will gather evidence around the most effective ways of supporting people who are in work on low pay to progress and increase their earnings.

150 Tameside residents, who either are already in employment on low pay or are self-employed, can volunteer to participate and receive support from the scheme.

Trained advisors will support participants to upskill and increase their earnings, providing bespoke training tailored to their personal needs, career aspirations, skills and development goals.

With specialist local labour market information, advisors will support participants to find new roles and progressive opportunities while developing their confidence in communicating with potential employers.

In addition to obtaining new skills and development opportunities, participants will also be supported to improve their work/life balance either within their current employment or in an alternative role.

Those who are interested in finding out more or participating in the scheme can contact tamesideinwork@tameside.gov.uk
