Oldham Road and Newman Street, Ashton
The council has successfully secured government funding to improve footways, crossings and cycle routes on Oldham Road and Newman Street in Ashton-under-Lyne.
The work will extend from the bus station to Burlington Street on Oldham Road, and on Newman Street from Oldham Road to Cavendish Street. The planned works will provide more people with the opportunity to walk, wheel or cycle for short journeys. Active travel is essential to improving health and wellbeing, reducing emissions and tackling the cost of living crisis.
The work is due to start on Monday 22 January 2024 and is due to be completed within 3 months
