A beautiful Ancient Woodland alongside the River Tame hiding the remains of Hulmes Pit, an 18th Century coal mine.

The car parking area is almost level and is surfaced in tarmac. It gives immediate access through a pram and wheelchair accessible stile to the woodland and over 1.5 kilometres (1 mile) of path which is either level or with gradients no steeper than 1 in 20. There are no other obstructions along the route. The path is surfaced with compacted stone throughout and there are regular benches or picnic sites along the route. The pond and mine area are also accessible.
