Tameside Libraries Readers' Groups

Do you love reading and long to discuss the brilliant books you have read? Join one of Tameside Libraries Readers' Groups...

• Readers' groups help you get more from your reading, you can share your experiences with other readers, and tell them what you loved and hated!
• You will discover new authors and genres - by reading books you would never have thought of trying!
• Groups are informal, fun and free, and have discussed all sorts of books from TV adaptions, to contemporary fiction and the classics.
• Talk about your favourite authors and characters - and the ones you would banish to Room 101.
• You do not need any literary knowledge to join a readers' group, you just need to enjoy reading.
• Don't worry if you haven't finished the book or didn't like it, you can still come along and join in.
• You even get tea and biscuits!

There a number of Readers' Groups that meet regularly in Tameside Libraries, and a Book Talk group for visually impaired people. The groups meet at:

If you don't live near to any of these libraries and would like us to try to develop a readers' group in your local library, or elsewhere in the community, please contact staff at your local library or phone Chris Smith, Reader Development Coordinator at Hyde Library on 0161 342 4450/4451. Tameside Libraries offer:

• multiple copies of books for loan to readers groups and suggestions for books that are good for discussion.
• staff assistance with setting up and running groups.
• a free newsletter keeping you up to date with events in the area and new titles you may enjoy reading.
