Tameside Local Studies and Archives have been awarded the maximum Four Stars in the 2010 National Archives Self Assessment making it the best Archive in the North West.

Use our on-line enquiry form to contact the Local Studies and Archives Unit for help and advice if you are: researching your family history; writing a thesis or essay on any aspect of the history of the area; doing a school project on a local theme; interested in finding out about the history of the place where you live; planning anniversary celebrations for a local club or organisation; wishing to use local material in reminiscence work.
There is a minimum charge of £1.50 for photocopies sent by post. Additional sheets are 10p each for A4 photocopies, 20p each for A3 photocopies and 50p each for copies from microfilm. Electronic copies have a minimum price of £1.50. Each additional copy/scan is £1.
