Developer Contributions

Supplementary Planning Document

Tameside Council has produced a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) titled "Developer Contributions". This follows a draft policy document that went on public consultation during July 2006. All the consultation responses have been assessed and considered and appropriate amendments have been made to the text, policy principles and details. These are articulated in the accompanying "Consultation Statement".

The new policy outlined in the SPD aims to introduce a more streamlined and accountable system of local tariffs for provision of new and improved greenspace, education facilities and highways in conjunction with an approved Section 106 Agreement regime. This will allow the Council to effectively mitigate for detrimental impact on the Boroughs existing infrastructure, facilities and services from new development by providing a capital budget for implementation of a prioritised programme of works in these services.

The tariffs will be charged on all developments (except for stated exclusions listed in the SPD) at the time of planning application submission and payment is due at the time of commencement of the planning approval.

Prospective developers can check the likely tariffs due for their scheme from submitting some basic data into the "Web Calculator" on this website. For any further clarification of the tariffs or whether the prospective development would also or alternatively require a Section 106 Agreement please contact the local Development Control Officer.
