Unitary Development Plan
The current Tameside Unitary Development Plan (UDP) was adopted on 17th November 2004, and supersedes all previous UDP Documents. The UDP contains all of the Council’s land use planning policies and forms the principal basis on which planning applications for development in the Borough are determined. The production of the plan has been a statutory process involving publication, examination and review. Under the new planning system, the current UDP is 'saved' as a Development Plan Document in the Tameside Local Development Framework.
The original time period under which UDP policies could be ‘saved’ in the Local Development Framework expired on 27th September 2007. However, Tameside has received Direction from the Secretary of State that its UDP policies can be extended beyond this time period.

Alternatively, the UDP is available for inspection at all Tameside Customer Service Centres and libraries. Documents may also be purchased at the Council Offices in Ashton-under-Lyne, or by sending a cheque made payable to 'Tameside MBC' to the address shown below. The printed version is priced at £50.00 (£30.00 for the proposals map only and £20.00 for the written statement only).
Although superseded by the current UDP, all documents relating to the previous UDP and the review process are listed below and provided for information:
