Tameside Story Makers

 


What is Story Makers?


Story Makers sessions are fun and interactive story sessions designed for children aged 0-4 and their families. Simon the Story Teller delivers free weekly drop in sessions at four libraries. The Story Maker sessions are funded from the Community Safety Project.

Families who attend will have the opportunity to work with award winning writer Caryl Hart and illustrator Andy Rowland to create a children’s picture book which will be printed and published.  Families who attend the sessions will receive a free copy of this book. There's a page on Caryl's website all about the project.
 

Story Makers People Like Me

After the huge success of the last two projects, Tameside libraries are pleased to announce that Tameside Story Makers is back for a third time.  This time round the theme is ‘People Like Me’ which focuses on everyone in our community.

When is it on?

Sessions start on Monday 16 September, 2019, until Monday 9 March, 2020.  The sessions will take place at;

  • Droylsden Library, Manchester Road - Mondays
    • Session 1 at 9.30am-10.15am
    • Session 2 at 10.30am-11.15am
    • You may be advised to join the second session if the first is too busy.
  • Stalybridge Library, Trinity Street- Mondays 1.30pm-2.30pm
  • Ashton Library, Market Place - Wednesdays
    • Session 1 at 9.30am-10.15am
    • Session 2 at 10.30am-11.15am
    • You may be advised to join the second session if the first is too busy
  • Hyde Library, Hyde Town Hall- Wednesdays 1.30pm-2.30pm
 

How do we take part?


These sessions are open to all families and are suitable for children 0-4 years.  All sessions are free and there is no need to book - Just turn up!  Families will have the opportunity to get involved in creating a published children’s book.

Celebration Event

We hope you have enjoyed the Story Maker sessions as much as we have.  To celebrate you and your children are invited to the spectacular Story Makers celebration party.  Come and collect your FREE signed picture book.  There will be food, interactive stories and more!
 
There are two celebration events on Wednesday 11 March 2020 at Dukinfield Town Hall starting at either 10 am or 12:30pm.

Choose which session you would like to attend and book your place in advance via tamesidelibraries.eventbrite.co.uk or alternatively book your place at your local library.

Sessions continue until Monday 9 March, 2020.

Extra Sessions Just Announced



We are please to announce thatEvent poster extra there will be extra Story Makers sessions at different libraries. These sessions will take place after the celebration event starting from Monday 16 March.
 
  • Denton Library, Denton Town Hall - Mondays 9.30am-10.30am
  • Dukinfield Library, Concord Way - Mondays 1.30pm-2.30pm
  • Hattersley Library, The Hub -  Wednesdays 9.30am-10.30am
  • Mossley Library, George Lawton Hall - Wednesdays 1.20pm-2.30pm

Where can I get last year's books?


Families who attended Story Makers People Who Help Us last year helped create the picture book ‘Zeke’s Emergency’. You can collect your FREE copy from any Tameside library if you did not receive a copy at the celebration event.
