Tameside's Young Person Drop In - You are invited!
The Employment and Skills team run a ‘Young Person ‘s Drop In’ on a Wednesday afternoon 1pm-4pm. This event is aimed at 16-24 year olds with a focus on our Looked After Children and Care Leaver’s but any young person is welcome.
The drop-in exists to provide information and support on Employment, Training and Education. Every week, there are a variety of training providers and professionals on hand to offer support and advice in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Positive Steps
Positive Steps offers careers advice from a recognised, charitable trust for young people, targeted at young people aged 13 to 18 to help them move into education, employment and training.
Job Centre Plus - Youth Work Coach
Support young people with their Universal Credit and explore training/job opportunities
Future You
FutureYou is a personalised programme designed to support people aged between 18 and 24 years old who are not in education, employment or training. It provides a mix of practical and wellbeing support with a dedicated mentor helping young people in.
Youth Employment Support
Youth Employment Support 'YES' team will be on hand to support care leavers into sustainable employment and training. They work with many employers who understand the barriers some of our YP face and are happy to give them the opportunity to build their confidence and skillset.
Household Support Fund
The Household Support Fund is a scheme designed to help people on low income with food costs, energy and water costs and essentials linked to energy and water (for example, warm clothing, bedding or sanitary products) There are also a limited number of supermarket vouchers available.
Please be aware funding for the Household Support Fund, provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), for the period of 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023 has now been exhausted in full.
However, if you have any queries we will have someone from the Household Support Fund Team on hand to provide advice only

FutureYou - FutureYou is a free, personalised programme to help you plan your career, and get you into the right education, training or employment for you.
FutureYou – Helping unemployed, young people aged 18-24 progress into education, employment or training
Young people will be quickly assigned a mentor who will be their primary contact during the FutureYou programme. The mentor will dedicate time to them to understand current circumstances, goals and any concerns young people may have. Young people will have weekly contact and monthly reviews with their mentor to ensure they have the support needed to keep progressing.
Together with their mentor, young people will create a personalised plan of action to help move into the education, training or employment that’s right for them. Every step counts, with constant opportunities to review and track progress and achievements; and make any changes that are needed along the way.

Standguide – Aged 19+ & need a qualification to get onto a course or start a job?
Level 2 Certificate in Creating a Business Start-Up
Eligibility: Must be aged 19+ and live in Greater Manchester
There are 4 mandatory units for this course, they are:
- First steps in creating a business start-up
- Marketing your business start-up
- Legal and financial considerations for your business start-up
- Developing your business plan.

The TikTok Creative Academy is an employability programme where we have been empowering 18–24-year-olds to access jobs in the creative industries for over a year! As a privately funded initiative through TikTok, our program offers a unique avenue of support that can be accessed alongside other government or private programs
The TikTok Creative Academy
Our 4-week pre-employability programme is carefully designed to equip participants with the tools they need to thrive in their creative careers. As someone who supports young people who may be interested in this, we believe your network could greatly benefit from this program. The programme can be accessed conveniently from home, allowing participants to enhance their creative skills from the comfort of their own computer. With sessions running three days a week, from 10am to 3pm, our participants can easily fit this transformative experience into their schedules.
Throughout the four-week journey, participants will immerse themselves in a wide range of captivating topics, including:
- Crafting a standout portfolio that captures attention
- Tailoring CVs to highlight unique strengths and experiences
- Mastering the art of compelling elevator pitches
- Discovering an array of incredible creative roles and apprenticeships
- Exploring their creativity in video editing, music making, film making, and beyond!
To make this program truly exceptional, we have partnered with creatives from diverse industries who provide invaluable feedback on participants' projects during the program.
We are also thrilled to announce that the TikTok Creative Academy now offers a City & Guilds accreditation. Upon completion of the program, participants will earn a recognized accreditation that adds substantial value to their creative credentials.
We provide ongoing support to our program graduates in their job search and when starting their new job we offer up to 6 months in work support. The best part? All of this is available at absolutely no cost!
