Inspect Licensed Vehicles
We ensure that all licensed taxi/private hire vehicles are subject to annual inspection. In addition we carry out additional 'spot checks' to ensure passenger safety.

Inspect Licensed Premises
All licensed premises are visited and inspected in relation to complaints. In addition we visit premises under new management to ensure they are aware of current legislation.

Other Key Achievements

During 2008/09 the following achievements were made:

  • We reviewed the current Street Trading areas and conditions permitted in order to explore consistency with corporate objectives particularly the promotion of a healthy population.  .
  • Implementation of a survey carried out with traders in relation to Pavement Cafe Licences this has resulted in a new fairer fee system which reduces the fees for small premises. 
  • We have developed a programme of enforcement for unlicensed limousines to ensure all passengers carried by these vehicles are not put at risk by ensuring that the driver and vehicle meets all licensing conditions.
