How to Apply

Hairdressers and Barbers are required to register the premises with Tameside MBC when opening new premises and when a new occupier takes over an existing salon.

In the case of mobile hairdressers, the premises would be the home address of the hairdresser/barber.

Within section 30 of the Greater Manchester Act 1981, if you wish to operate a premises as a hairdresser or barber shop, you are required to register the premises with Tameside MBC. In order to apply for a Hairdressers/Barbers Licence, you can either fill in the online registration form or print the application form 36.31 KB PDF File and send the the Licensing Office enclosed with appropriate fee.

Once your application has been accepted and the fee has been paid, the Licensing Section will arrange for an inspection to carried out by the Environmental Safety and Hygiene Section. Once the inspection has been completed, a report is submitted to the licensing section for their action.

A premise registration will be issued once the premises has been authorised by the Safety and Hygiene Section which needs to be in full view of customers.
