 Mission Statement


To enable the authority to achieve its policies by the effective collection of taxes, maximising the cash flow benefits to the council whilst treating tax and rate payers with courtesy, understanding and fairness.

Key Service Objectives

  • To maintain an accurate tax base for Council Tax and an up to date record of all non-domestic properties in order to ensure that all collectable revenue for the Council is maximised and collected.
  • To issue accurate and up to date bills for Council tax and Non Domestic rates.
  • To increase the numbers of Direct Debit payers to reduce administration charges.
  • To take prompt recovery action to maximise the cash flow position of the council and to assist customers by identifying problems early.
  • To maximise all available government grants.
  • To liaise closely with the benefits service to ensure that customers receive all the help to which they are entitled.
  • To provide a customer focused service by employing a well trained, effective multi skilled and committed workforce.
  • To continually improve the service and performance standards.
