Announcement: Tameside Library Service during Covid-19 restrictions in force from 12 April 2021

From Monday 12 April 2021 Tameside Library buildings will be open for browsing and some libraries for private study. Because of the need to make sure there is a safe distance between customers who are studying and those who are browsing, study space will only be available at Ashton, Droylsden, Dukinfield, Hattersley and Stalybridge. Anyone wishing to use study space must book in advance. PCs are available in one-hour slots while allocated study space can be used for two hours. Separate appointments are needed. In addition all online services and the Home Library Service will continue.

We have a range of online services and digital events on offer but due to Covid-19 guidelines there are currently no events or activities taking place in libraries. For full details of revised current services and facilities, please see our Libraries
homepage and social media.

Printing and Photocopying

All libraries in Tameside offer printing and photocopying which is charged at 10p per copy for black and white and 60p per copy for colour for A4 copies and at 20p per copy for black and white and £1.20 per copy for colour for A3 copies. Please note that at the Open+ libraries, this service is currently only available at staffed times.

We are in the process of introcuding coin operated, self-service photocopiers so it's a good idea to have the correct change. Please ask the library staff if you need any help using the photocopiers.
Printing is available from all PCs in our Computer Centres, and whilst it is not possible to print from your own device at the present time, we can help you to find the item you need online and help you
to print or to print from your own email account so you will need your email password.

Scanners are available at most Tameside Libraries, there is no charge to use this service, but you will need your library card to use the computer and scanner. If you are not a library member, please speak to a memeber of staff to see how we can help you.

Once you have scanned your items you will be able to print out the document, upload to a website or attach it to an email. If you need to save documents you would need to bring a USB memory stick with you.

Please take a look at the list of Library contact details to see which libraries have a scanner.

Fax Service

Some of the libraries in Tameside offer a public fax service which allows you to send and receive faxes worldwide. You don't even need to know how to work a fax machine yourself; we will do it for you. In addition to sending and receiving your faxes, we are also able to send faxes between libraries in order to respond to your enquiries quickly. Please note that all enquiries are answered during the library's staffed hours.

Sending a fax

Charges for sending a fax start from £1.70 and is available at Stalybridge Library during staffed hours. The charge depends on the number of pages you wish to send and the country which you want to send the fax to. If you wish to send a fax, please make sure that you bring the correct fax number with you to the library, plus all the necessary dialling codes. In order for your fax to send, it has to pass through the fax machine. Therefore, please make sure that your fax is:
