In addition to the records of the Borough Council and its predecessors, Tameside Local Studies and Archives takes in a wide variety of archives and photographs from private donors, depositors and organisations, and makes them available to the public. We accept records relating to places, organisations and people from the Tameside area, along with records relating to the Manchester Regiment.

We require 24 hours’ notice to retrieve documents. Please note that all requests for archives to be produced on Saturdays need to be received no later than 2pm on the Thursday preceding your visit. We will acknowledge receipt of all requests to confirm that the documents can be produced. Please bring a copy of your acknowledgement when you visit.
Minimum charge for look-up service £6.96
This includes up to 2 free A4 copies (photocopy / printing / microfilm print) & postage. Additional copies 90p A4
