Engineering Service
The Engineering Service has overall responsibility for:
- Ensuring safe working practices are achieved by all contractors working on the highway.
- Developing and monitoring the effectiveness of the Council's programme of local road safety schemes, traffic calming and 20mph zone programme.
- Promoting public transport initiatives and developing transportation strategies and schemes.
- Promoting recycling initiatives and developing appropriate strategies and schemes.
- Safeguarding and improving the quality of the environment.
- Manage off-street pay and display parking.
- Improving and maintaining the condition of the Highway Network and infrastructure.
