Libraries Week: Never Stop Learning

Libraries Week is an annual showcase and celebration of the best that libraries have to offer.

In 2022, Libraries Week takes place between the 3rd and 9th October, celebrating the nation’s much-loved libraries and the central role that libraries play in supporting life-long learning.

To celebrate we're putting on a series of special events in addition to our regular schedule.

Monday 3 October

Meet the Author: Brent Shore - Twenty-six Nil
12 noon Hyde Library & 2pm Denton Library

Meet Hydonian author Brent Shore who will be discussing his new book 'Twenty-six Nil' - all about the record defeat
Hyde suffered at the hands of Preston North End in 1887 and the social world around it. No booking required.


Tuesday 4 October

Manchester Voices: Accents and dialets of Greater Manchester
6pm Ashton Library

Manchester Voices is a research project exploring the rich tapestry of accents, dialects, and identities that make up Greater Manchester. Manchester Voices is run by Dr Rob Drummond who we'll be welcoming to talk on the project and the findings from the
Accent Van around the interpretation of accents and dialects from across Greater Manchester. Book here.

Musical Story Time with Sarah
11am at Stalybrige Library and 12:30pm at Ashton Library

Join the multi-talented Sarah Atter for a family friendly, interactive story, rhyme and music session.

Kids Coding Workshop with Coder Dojo
11am at Stalybridge Library

A fun, creative, introductory coding workshop for kids. Join the experts from Coder Dojo to discover how to code
